The story of the mural
Cité Dillon is one of Martinique's largest housing estates; its name recalls the 18th-century sugar estate of Count Arthur Dillon. Here, a 125 m² mural by Magiic.
A scene familiar to many families of African descent: a mother doing her daughter's hair, the girl sitting between her legs. An everyday gesture passed down through generations, full of meaning. Warm browns, burgundy and ochre, a few touches of sky blue.
A member of Mada Paint (see the fist in the crescent moon), Magiic moves between graffiti, painting and tattooing, and combines all three here: the painted scene, his tag in transparent bubble letters, and his “Majiko” symbols inspired by Amerindian cultures.

The artist
Magiic
A key member of the Mada Paint crew, Magiic looks at an era in which identity remains one of the thorniest questions. Fine lines, fat caps, shading, nature, spirituality and colour: he moves from graffiti to tattooing with the same toolkit.
