The story of the mural
The Jam Wall was painted before the festival by thirteen artists: Mounlan, Xän, Magiic, James, Rman, Jking, None, Roxane Shade, Onine, Doudou Style, Saveur Grafikk, Zében and Oshea.
Art direction was by Xän of the Mada Paint collective, who also designed the festival's identity. In a very urban setting he chose nature: a grove growing in the middle of the city. Each artist was asked to paint themselves as a plant in this “grove of artists”.
During the festival Xän finished the wall with two characters from the world of Japanese director Miyazaki: a heron (The Boy and the Heron) surrounded by firefly-like particles, which Zében's little frog seems to shelter from, and Totoro (My Neighbour Totoro), resting at the heart of the forest, Xän's own self-portrait in the grove.
