The story of the mural
Based in Guadeloupe for about ten years, Yelow made his largest work here: no less than 200 m².
His signature combines an animal, a human figure (usually a woman) and idealised plants, strongly influenced by Art Nouveau and Alphonse Mucha: circular composition, pastel clouds, elegant posture, flowing drapery.
At the centre, a mixed-race woman embodies créolité and Lyannaj Karayib, her gaze lifted to the sky. Beside her, a snowy egret, a bird that travels between the islands like the Caribbean's first peoples. Anthuriums, porcelain roses and hibiscus frame the scene. With Curtis Hylton's hummingbird next door, the two murals answer each other.
