The story of the mural

A mural painted in a single day with a class from Julia Nicolas secondary school and art students from Bellevue high school, about Caribbean identity and Afro-descendance.

The artist

Aurélie Argyre

A Martinican contemporary artist, Aurélie Argyre paints portraits of strong women through which she explores her own identity and the cultures that shape her. In Sainte-Marie she painted a 60 m² mural celebrating the roseate tern and local biodiversity. In 2024 she led a collective mural with school pupils for ARTMADA.
